Bloom with Ms. Rose
-
Pre-literacy
Strong early language and sound awareness lay the foundation for successful reading and writing. Ms. Rose has expertise in teaching children to develop listening, and phonological awareness—the ability to hear and play with sounds in words—which are key building blocks for literacy. By targeting skills like rhyming, syllable awareness, vocabulary growth, and sound-letter connection, we can help prevent future reading difficulties and boost a child’s confidence before they even start formal reading instruction. Early support can make learning to read smoother, more enjoyable, and more successful.

Literacy Skills
Ms. Rose helps kids build literacy skills through engaging, play-based methods that make learning fun and meaningful for children. By using games, stories, movement, and hands-on activities, kids connect spoken language to print in natural, motivating ways. She aims to strengthen the language foundations needed for reading—like vocabulary, sentence structure, and sound awareness—with a focus on decoding, fluency, and comprehension. Through play, children practice listening, thinking, and problem-solving without pressure, allowing skills to develop organically. This collaborative, play-centered approach nurtures a love of reading while supporting each child’s individual communication and learning needs.

Dyslexia Treatment
The Orton-Gillingham method is a highly effective, evidence-based approach for teaching children to read, especially those who struggle with traditional methods or have dyslexia. It focuses on structured, multisensory instruction—engaging sight, sound, movement, and touch to help students connect letters with sounds and patterns in language. Lessons are carefully sequenced and individualized, allowing children to master one concept before moving to the next. This hands-on, explicit approach helps strengthen decoding, spelling, and comprehension skills while building confidence and reducing frustration. By making reading instruction clear, consistent, and interactive, the Orton-Gillingham method empowers learners to become more independent and successful readers. Sessions are intensive (2-4 times per week). A whole-family approach and supportive learning materials are developed individually to help each child learn to read with confidence in the way he or she needs.
